As part of their Chicago Voices Initiative, The Lyric has partnered with three local mission-driven organizations to celebrate the untold stories of the City through new music theater works.
So over the summer, I've been working as a scriptwriter with Harmony, Hope & Healing, a non-profit organization which uses the transformative power of music to serve Chicagoans recovering from homelessness, domestic violence, incarceration and addiction.

Our piece is entitled A Circle of Hope:
To turn the page on the darkest chapters of their lives, three different Chicagoans find their way to a circle of hope, setting a process of transformation in motion.
We had our first public reading earlier this week and it was amazing! I want to shout out all the whole team making it happen, including Cheri Coons (Animateur), Dayna Lynn Nuckolls (Songwriter), Tony Santiago (Director), and Courtney Cintron (Project Intern), as well as the awesome folks at Lyric!

There are two other Chicago groups creating new work via this program: The Kirin-Gornick Band, and Tellin’ Tales Theatre. And all three teams will perform their new work in a production entitled Stories and Songs of Chicago.
The performance will take place at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance (205 E Randolph, Chicago) on September 24 at 7:30pm. Find out more and RSVP online at http://www.ChicagoVoices.com/CCP
